Backup and Tresorit

Last updated: 22 October 2026. as of October 2026.

Backup encrypts on your device. The recovery key never leaves you, so Alix cannot read the files, even if asked. If you lose that key, we cannot recover the data. Your backups are stored in Switzerland. Free is 100 MB with no card. Starter is $1.99 a year for 5 GB, Plus $9.99 for 30 GB, Pro $24.99 for 75 GB, Max $99 for 300 GB, and Ultra $299 for 1 TB, all yearly. Paid checkout says Coming soon. A computer connects with an agent, a command-line client, or MCP. The agent can add backups and cannot read or delete them.

Tresorit Basic is 3 GB, free, and does not ask for a card. Paid personal plans on the pricing page are Personal Lite (50 GB), Personal Essential (1 TB), and Personal Pro (4 TB). The dollar amounts were not in the page text fetched for this comparison, so they are not stated here.

Tresorit's zero-knowledge page says files are encrypted on the device and that Tresorit does not hold a readable key. A paid trial is 14 days. Their pricing page says a card or PayPal is required even for that trial.
