Backup is a service of Alix Sàrl, Chemin des Pléiades 3, 1206 Genève, Switzerland. IDE/UID CHE-453.922.265. These terms cover the website and the backup service at backup.alix-services.com.

You create an account with your email. We send a sign-in code. There is no password. The recovery key is created on your device. You keep it. If you lose it, we cannot open your files and we cannot make a new key for the old files.

Files are encrypted on your device before upload. We store ciphertext. We do not have the key, so we cannot read the files, even if someone asks us to.

The free plan is 100 MB and does not ask for a card. Paid plans are yearly. Paid checkout is not open: the buttons say Coming soon, and we do not take a card.

An agent on your computer can add backups. It cannot read them and it cannot delete them. Backups cannot be deleted for 90 days. New copies can still be added during that time.

You may stop using Backup at any time. Write to support@alix-services.com and we will close the account. Files inside the 90-day lock stay until that lock ends. After that we delete the ciphertext for a closed account.

We may suspend an account that breaks the acceptable use rules. Questions about these terms go to support@alix-services.com. Privacy questions go to privacy@alix-services.com.

Swiss law applies. The courts of the Canton of Geneva have jurisdiction, except where a consumer protection rule gives you another court.
